About Waves to Wellness
The Michael Karayannis Waves to Wellness Foundation Inc. (Waves to Wellness) was founded in 2019 in memory of our beloved son, brother, and friend Michael.
Waves to Wellness is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the devastation that substance-use disorder (SUD) causes families by raising awareness of the disease; offering financial grants for treatment and rehabilitation; providing education for prevention; and breaking the stigma that prevents thorough treatment of SUDs.
Our Story
“If you told me that 'Michael will be dead in 7 months', I wouldn’t have believed you...”
Michael was born on August 26, 1993. He was a exuberant and precocious child with a "larger than life" personality, whose infectious smile and energy animated a room. His passion and energy for life extended to everything he did. From surfing, snowboarding, hunting, fishing, Greek dancing and teaching himself to play five different musical instruments, he excelled in his pursuits.

Recovery Grants
Financial support provided to people suffering from substance-use disorder. All funds go directly towards treatment facilities and recovery homes.

Fun events, like an annual Fishing Tournament, organized to raise funds to support our Recovery Grant program and other organizational initiatives.
Education & Advocacy
Equipped with fact-based information, together we can change the conversation on substance use disorder and advocate for individual and accessible treatment.
Community Outreach
Community service projects that support people in recovery and provide information and other resources to the communities we work with.
